FACTS — What does Financial Ledger do with your personal financial information?
Why?Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully.
What?The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:
  • Account balances and transaction history
  • Account names and institution identifiers (last 4 digits)
  • Payment history
  • Income and expense category data
How?All financial companies need to share customers' personal financial information to run their everyday business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their customers' personal financial information, the reasons Financial Ledger chooses to share, and whether you can limit this sharing.

Who is providing this notice? Financial Ledger, a financial technology company offering AI-powered bookkeeping and expense categorization software.

What we do

How does Financial Ledger protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. Specifically: TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, Row-Level Security database policies, private storage buckets, and hashed IP storage.

How does Financial Ledger collect my personal information?

We collect your personal financial information, for example, when you:

  • Connect your bank account using Plaid
  • Upload a PDF bank statement
  • Enter expense information manually
  • Use our tax estimation features

We also collect your personal financial information from Plaid, Inc., our bank connectivity partner.

Why can't I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only: (a) sharing for affiliates' everyday business purposes; (b) affiliates from using your information to market to you; (c) sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you. State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

Definitions

Affiliates: Companies related by common ownership or control. We have no current affiliates.

Nonaffiliates: Companies not related by common ownership or control. We do not share with nonaffiliates for marketing purposes.

Joint marketing: A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you. We do not engage in joint marketing.
